Level 4 Cyber Security Apprenticeship

We are recruiting Cyber Security Apprentices to work in the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority Group.

Role Profile: Cyber Security Apprentice

The primary role of a Cyber Security Professional is to apply an understanding of cyber threats, hazards, risks, controls, measures and mitigation to protect organisations and people. Those focused on the technical side will work on areas such as security design and architecture, security testing, investigations & response. Those focused on the risk analysis side will work on areas such as operations, risk, governance and compliance. Whether focused on the technical or risk analysis side all people in this occupation work to achieve required security outcomes in a legal and regulatory context. You will develop and apply practical knowledge in information security to deliver solutions that fulfil organisations requirements.

You will work to detect breaches in network security for escalation to incident response. You will typically use a range of automated tools to monitor networks in real time. You will understand and interpret the alerts that are automatically generated by those tools including integrating and correlating information from a variety of sources.

Cyber Security Apprentices will be registered as STEM ambassadors and during the apprenticeship will deliver CyberFirst STEM courses and encourage the next generation of Cyberists.

Civil Engineering Graduate (Magnox)

Civil Engineering Graduate to work on a variety of Magnox sites. Commencing October 2018

Magnox are seeking to recruit graduates into Civil Engineering roles across a number of Magnox sites. Successful candidates will follow a structured 2 year programme of development which provides both the relevant internal and external training and on-job-development.

Below are some examples of activities in Magnox:

Assist Civil Examiner for Prestressed Concrete Reactor Pressure Vessels (PCPV)
• Collating and analysing data from Oldbury Stressing contract. This involves load tests and removal of tendons for inspection. Opportunity to gain experience of prestressing system with plenty of opportunity to witness the work on site and to carry out checks on Contractor’s quality control.
• Assist with Oldbury PCPV settlement survey due in Jan 2018.
• Assist with Oldbury PCPV concrete surface inspections due in Feb 2018.
• Assist with Wylfa PCPV annual concrete surface and tendon inspections due in Feb 2018.
• Collate, process and analyse Wylfa strain gauge data, received from site on a monthly basis.
